Choosing Bed Skirts, Box Spring Wraps & Pillow Shams
Start with what you want to cover. If the space beneath the bed needs concealing, a bed skirt is usually the better choice. If you only want to cover an exposed box spring, a wrap provides a fitted finish while leaving the area below it open.
Bed Skirt or Box Spring Wrap?
A bed skirt has a platform that rests beneath the mattress, with fabric hanging down around the bed. This helps conceal the box spring, frame, and under-bed area.
A box spring wrap fits around the foundation itself. It can be a good choice for a bed with an exposed box spring above a platform or for anyone who prefers the appearance without a hanging skirt. A platform bed without a box spring may not need either accessory.
Measure for Coverage Without Fabric on the Floor

A 15-inch bed skirt drop works well with many conventional bed setups, covering the box spring and the space below without resting on the floor. Measure from the surface where the skirt’s platform will sit beneath the mattress to your desired stopping point. Bed-frame height affects the drop you need.
Choosing Solid-Color or Quilted Bed Skirts
Our plain Palmetto microfiber bed skirts are lightweight, fast drying, and inexpensive. In our experience, they come out of the dryer nearly wrinkle-free, making them a practical choice when price and easy care are priorities.
Martex Basics poly/cotton bed skirts have a slightly heavier fabric. They provide another solid-color option, although they may need a light touch-up with an iron after drying.
Our quilted microfiber bed skirts add more texture to the finished bed. The half-inch square quilting complements the one-inch quilting on our Palmetto coverlets, especially in white. This is our preferred combination when customers want a coordinated coverlet arrangement.
Quilted skirts can also look attractive beneath a duvet or decorative top sheet. Consider the patterns together so they complement one another. A plain skirt may be the better choice when the bedding above already has a prominent pattern.
Coordinating Pillow Shams
Choose shams to complement the coverlet or duvet cover, and check their dimensions against the pillows you plan to use. Keeping the fabric and pattern consistent can help finish the bed without adding unnecessary decorative pieces.
