Duvet Covers or Triple Sheeting: Price, Simplicity & Preference
In our experience, price and simplicity often lead customers toward triple sheeting. An inexpensive decorative top sheet can help keep the cost of outfitting a room down. Other customers choose a heavier, more expensive top sheet while keeping the same straightforward bed-making arrangement.
Triple sheeting uses a bottom sheet, a flat sheet beneath the blanket or comforter, and a top sheet above it. A decorative hotel top sheet forms the visible finishing layer. Housekeepers can assemble the bed in layers without putting an insert inside a cover.
Duvet covers tend to be a more expensive choice for the customers we help, but personal preference matters. Some customers strongly prefer a duvet cover, while others would rather avoid the work of inserting and positioning the bedding each time the cover is changed. Neither arrangement is the right choice for every property.
If you are changing your bedding setup, try the complete arrangement on one bed first. Have the person who normally makes your beds strip and remake it. That trial can tell you more about suitability than a product photograph.

A fuller bed is not automatically a more comfortable bed. Consider your climate, typical room temperature, and the other layers guests will be sleeping under.

Check Actual Dimensions Before Matching a Cover and Insert
A queen label on both products does not guarantee the fit you want. Compare the width and length of the duvet cover with the insert before ordering. An undersized insert can leave empty fabric around the edges, while an oversized insert can bunch inside the cover.
Also consider how the assembled bedding will cover your mattresses. Mattress height, added toppers, and the desired side drop all affect the finished appearance. If you are keeping existing inserts, measure them before selecting replacement covers.
With decorative top sheets, allow enough fabric to cover the bedding beneath and accommodate your preferred tuck or fold at the head of the bed.
