We began developing the Palmetto coverlet program more than 15 years ago for furnished housing providers accommodating stays longer than 30 days, often six months to a year or more. Those customers needed bedding that could hold up through extended use, launder easily, and dry quickly. That experience continues to shape the coverlets we offer to hotels and rental properties today. They are our best-selling top-of-the-bed item, outselling our duvet covers and decorative top sheets combined.
Why We Have Kept the Heavier Microfiber Fabric
We have maintained 120 GSM microfiber fabric throughout this program. GSM measures fabric weight in grams per square meter; here, it describes the outer fabric, not the filling. In evaluating lighter 90 GSM coverlets, we saw that repeated washing and drying can leave the quilting puckered and the bedding looking worn sooner. Our heavier fabric has held up well and retained a smooth, presentable appearance through customer use and laundering.
As costs have increased, we have kept these construction standards in place. For a property buying bedding for repeated use, how it looks after laundering matters as much as how it looks when first unpacked.
Fast Drying and a Neat Finish After Laundering
One of the main advantages we have seen over poly-cotton bedding and comforters is how quickly these microfiber coverlets dry. That makes them a practical choice when bedding needs to move through the laundry and back into service. They are colorfast and come out virtually wrinkle-free when removed promptly from the dryer. Follow the care instructions and plan for prompt unloading to get the best finished appearance.
More Coverage for Taller Mattresses
As pillow-top and taller mattresses became more common, we increased the dimensions of our coverlets to provide better coverage. Our queen coverlets are now 96 inches wide, and our king coverlets are 108 inches wide.
Complete Sets or Replacement Pieces by the Case
Coverlet sets are convenient when you need a coordinated coverlet, pillow shams, and bed skirt for each bed. Our individual coverlets, quilted pillow shams, and bed skirts are also available as open stock, meaning each component can be ordered separately in its listed case quantity.
Our experience over the years has shown that pillow shams tend to need replacement more often because of stains or damage, while the coverlets continue to last. Open stock lets you replenish shams or bed skirts without replacing the entire bedding set. It also lets you order coverlets and shams for platform beds that do not need a skirt.
Customer feedback has helped us improve the coordinating pieces, too. We added a microfiber liner inside the pillow shams after finding that the previous nonwoven lining could break down and allow filling to come loose after repeated laundering. Our bed skirts also use a heavy platform fabric to help resist tearing.
A More Finished Look with a White Quilted Bed Skirt
For properties looking for a nicer finish, we recommend considering a white microfiber quilted bed skirt. In our experience, it lifts the appearance of the whole bedding arrangement and gives the room a more polished look.
The quilted bed skirt is a separate open-stock option from the standard microfiber bed skirt included in the coverlet sets. Check the available sizes and measure the required drop before ordering.
